Ausencio "Chencho" Rocha, 61, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

He was born Sept. 18, 1946 to Benito and Juanita Rocha in McAllen, Texas.

He married Maria Guadalupe Hernandez in 1965 in Toppenish.

He is survived by his wife, Maria; five children, David Rocha (Leticia) of Sedro Woolley, Annie Betancourt (Javier) of Toppenish, and Rose Ann Rocha, Steve Rocha (Erica) and Ausencio Rocha Jr. (Kc), all of Yakima; three brothers, Benny Rocha (Frances) of Toppenish, and Albert Rocha (Juanna) and Jesse Rocha, all of Yakima; and five sisters, Emiteria Rocha of Kerman, Calif., Julia Leal (Carlos) of McCallen, Texas, Maria Castillon (Poncho) of Wapato, and Rosa Rocha and Alicia Rocha, both of Kerman; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jose and Porfirio; and his sister, Aurora.

A viewing will be held Thursday, June 19, 2008, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 20, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church in Toppenish with burial to follow at Elm Wood Cemetery in Toppenish.
