Thank you, Corey Russell, for informing the taxpayers how we are getting ripped off by our judicial system (re: the $2.4 million in Sunnyside Municipal Court fines that optimistically they will only collect 30 percent of).
I guarantee that if I or any of the rest of our upstanding citizens were to be fined, we would have to pay.
Is it any wonder why the criminals are laughing and the taxpayer is crying, as we are paying for the court system and all the employees. We need a system that makes the criminals have to pay, instead of the taxpayer, who has committed no crime. When I see criminals sentenced to jail time, they are smiling and waving to their friends and relatives.
I have personally experienced an accident with someone who had no insurance. I called police, but the accident was on private property so there was nothing the police could do. What about when they leave? Nothing happened!
A very simple solution to all of these problems is to impound their vehicle until the fine is paid. After 30 days, it is for sale. That would solve other problems...they would have to walk to commit other crimes.
The present system is a joke! No private business would or could operate the way the courts do.
I have always wondered why, if an attorney can be dishonorable while in practice, how then can he be honorable as a judge?
