Palencia sentenced to 41 months for burglary

A 20-year-old Sunnyside man was sentenced to 41 months in prison earlier this week for his role in a December home invasion.

Deciderio Palencia took a plea deal offered by the Yakima County Prosecutor's Office and pled guilty to burglary in the first degree.

In other police news, Sunnyside police have received four reports of theft and one burglary since Tuesday morning.

A 1993 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the 400 block of West South Hill Road at 6:10 a.m. today (Wednesday).

Police received a report of a cold burglary in the 1700 block of Cascade Way at 6:55 p.m. on Tuesday. Miscellaneous items and vehicle keys were taken.

Police were called to Wal-Mart at 2:23 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a juvenile female shoplifter in custody.

A theft was reported to police from the 800 block of East Edison Avenue at 1:46 p.m. on Tuesday. Money was taken from the reporting party's account.

A 1991 Nissan Sentra was reported stolen from the 1500 block of South Sixth Street at 12:37 p.m. on Tuesday.

Also since yesterday, police have dealt with one alcohol offense, three animal complaints, one report of disorderly conduct, one DUI of drugs or alcohol, one fight, one report of fraud, two reports of suspicious people or situations, four traffic violations, two reports of sex offender registration violations and one report of trespassing.

Police also served four arrest warrants and one court order, assisted four agencies, provided two extra patrols and one funeral escort, took two reports of found property and fielded four informational calls.
