BENTON CITY - Bickleton's track team traveled to Benton City yesterday afternoon to participate in an A league meet against Ki-Be, Riverview and Royal and walked away with some impressive finishes.
"(We were) missing our seniors due to their senior (project) presentation night, (but) some underclassmen made some big noise," said Bickleton Coach Darrell Lang.
Bickleton's Andrew Venema ran and jumped his way to a first place finish in the 300 hurdles in 46.6. After competing there, Venema went on to set a personal record and earn a second place finish in the high jump, leaping 5-11. He also placed second in the 110 high hurdles, finishing in 18.1 seconds.
Teammate Patrick Maeder catapulted 11-6 for a first place finish in the pole vault.
The 4x400 relay team comprised of Venema, Maeder, Edgar Molena and Junior Hernandez ran a season best, clocking in at 4:04 for a second place finish.
Morgan McBride earned a first place finish for the Pirates in the javelin, throwing the spear 76-0.
Christina Wilson debuted in the 3200-meter run and was rewarded with a second place finish, clocking in at 14:43.3.
Bickleton's Alejandra Molena placed second in the shotput at 28-5.5.
Teammate Star Kibby also had a second place finish in the pole vault at 7-6.
Throwing the discus for only the second time this year, Katelynn Clinton earned a second place finish at 84-8.
Bickleton next competes at Goldendale this coming Saturday.
