OTHELLO - The season has ended for Grandview's Lady 'Hounds following a loss in District play this past Saturday to Ephrata, 11-7.
In the first four innings, Grandview pitcher Chris Mendoza gave up just three hits and two runs.
Lady 'Hound Doris Lupercio started the scoring in the first inning with a home run. Grandview also plated single tallies in the second and third, with Chelsea McNabb and Vanessa Medina scoring.
In the fourth inning, the Greyhounds scored four times with Medina, Sarah Caskey, Marlena Saldana and Rachel Roberts crossing home plate. Medina, Kayla Gonzalez and Saldana each had hits in the inning.
That 7-2 lead would disappear in the bottom of the fifth, as Ephrata scored nine runs on only three hits, with Grandview committing five errors.
"I don't know if the heat got to us, but we couldn't seem to stem the tide of Tiger runs," said Grandview Coach Doug Hansen. "Our defense, which has steadily improved during the season, disappeared."
Grandview finished the season with an 8-14 record and will lose only two seniors, Saldana and Roni Gamboa.
