J.B. Judd, 80, longtime Sunnyside resident died Monday, May 19, 2008, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

He was born Feb. 5, 1928 in Fruitland, Idaho to Van and Ona Ruth (Stanhope) Judd. He spent his early years in Zillah and Yakima, where he received his education.

In 1946 he entered the United States Army, serving in Japan, and received his honorable discharge in 1947.

On Feb. 10, 1947, he married June E. Judd in Yakima and they moved to Renton. He was employed at Weyerhaeuser of Snoqualmie and Boeing of Renton.

In 1973 J.B. and June moved to Sunnyside where he was employed at Independent Foods of Sunnyside and at Hanford Reservation before retiring. He continued to make his home in Sunnyside until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, June E. Judd of Sunnyside; sons, Gary Judd (Carol) of Prosser and Larry Judd (Roxie) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; daughter, Janet K. Zook (Richard) of Grandview; brother, Eugene Judd of Auburn; sister, Edna Jelly of Renton; grandson, James D. Breeze of Selah; and granddaughter, Ashley Judd of Coeur d'Alene.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Evrie, Wesley, Harold and Ralph.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, May 30, 2008, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
