Robert Galaviz, 55, loving husband, proud father and devoted grandfather was taken away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, in Seattle.

He was born June 26, 1955 in Toppenish to Mary and Joseph Galaviz. He graduated from Mabton High School, married his high school sweetheart and then attended the University of Washington. He later served for Consolidated Freightways for over 25 years and had a distinguished career in the industry.

He enjoyed watching and playing games with his grandchildren, who from the oldest to the youngest, all touched and changed his life. He loved beating his sons at cribbage and golf and picking the winning horse. He had a unique gift that allowed for him to carry the problems of many upon his own shoulders, while always keeping a bright smile on his face and much love in his heart. Bob's memory will live on in us all.

He is survived by his wife, Anita of 37 years; his sons, Jason and Adrian; daughter-in-law, Louisa; and his five grandchildren, Frank, Sophia, Isabel, Vinny and Judah.

He will also be remembered by countless family members and friends. Bob's family defined his life and his love and laughter will be missed by all. After every victory over Jason and Adrian you could count on Bob shouting "not like your papa" and he was right...nobody's like our papa.

A Rosary with visitation will be held today, Nov. 3, 2008, at 6 p.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at the Grace Brethren Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Grace Brethren Church.
