Treat yourself to a day visiting local wineries the weekend of Nov. 28-30.
Wineries along the Rattlesnake Hills trail will be hosting a weekend of treats and wine tasting on those dates.
The cost is free to all who wish to visit the wineries, which will be open beginning at 10 a.m. Some wineries will be open as late as 6 p.m., ensuring visitors a day filled to the brim with enjoyment.
The wineries are located in and near Outlook, Granger, Zillah and Wapato. For the purchase of a $5 wine passport offered at the Yakima Visitor Information Center, wine enthusiasts will be afforded the opportunity to save on many wine purchases.
Eaton Hills Winery near Granger will celebrate Thanksgiving in Wine Country, continuing the winery's 20th anniversary, with the release of six of its wines, including Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Rose' a Deux.
Tefft and Steppe Cellars are located between Outlook and Granger.
Joel Tefft will provide visitors to his winery chicken drumettes with a cranberry port sauce made from Concord grapes. A delectable Cabernet Port is suggested for pairing with this culinary delight.
German-style glass ornaments will be available for purchase for the grapevine wreath making at Steppe Cellars. The winery will also offer a squash soup or other delicacy to be paired with its newly released 2006 vintage wines.
Horizon's Edge, located between Granger and Zillah, will be closing for the winter after the Thanksgiving event. Therefore, they are offering customers a 15 percent discount on wine bottle purchases or 20 percent off the purchase of a case of wine with a passport card.
Cream of roasted portobello mushroom and chipotle pepper soup is being served at Zillah's Severino Cellars. The winery offers many great-tasting wines to pair with the warm consommé.
Visitors to the winery are also encouraged to stock up on holiday gifts in the gift shop.
Just up the freeway on the west side of Zillah is Claar Cellars, which will release its Cabernet Nouveau in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. Passport holders will receive a commemorative pin while supplies last.
