Straight-A 'brain trust' numbers 29 at Sierra Vista

Sunnyside's Sierra Vista Middle School has named 29 of its students to the 4.00 grade point average honor roll for the first quarter of the 2008-09 academic year.

Of the 29 straight-A students, seven are eighth graders. They include Guadalupe Acosta, Anna Estrada, Ana Lugo, Rosa Madrigal, Stephanie Romero, Adrian Santos and Janeth Vasquez.

From Sierra Vista's seventh grade class, nine students have been listed on the straight-A honor roll. Those academic achievers include Lydia Acosta, Falon Ah Quin, Amanda Cervantes, Vanessa Cornwell, Sydnee Hernandez, Madison Marquez, Yusleyvi Medina, Miriam Paz and Erendira Salgado.

Nearly half of the 4.00 GPA honor roll students at Sierra Vista are sixth graders. Those 13 straight-A students are Michelle Galvez, Felice Garcia, Samuel Garcia, Katelyn Hazzard, Cheree LaPierre, Mattalynn Meyers, Eunice Perez-Frias, Claudia Rivera, Samantha Rodriguez, Payton Sample, Lindsay Schilperoort, Jasmine Starke and Thomas Waywell.

A host of other students have also been recognized by Sierra Vista officials for maintaining at least a 3.00 grade point average for the first quarter of school.
