Barbara Jean Iverson, 73, of Kennewick and a former Grandview resident, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 in Seattle.

She was born Nov. 30, 1934 in Lilly Lake, Ill. to Charles and Nellie (Shoppa) Gerard. At an early age her family moved to Washington where she received her education in Benton City.

On Oct. 11, 1952, she married Richard C. "Bus" Iverson in Benton City. Following their marriage, they made their home in Sunnyside. From 1953 to 1955 they lived in Temple, Texas while Bus was serving in the United States Army. They returned to Grandview where they continued to make their home. Bus passed away in 1988. Since 2003, she has made her home in Kennewick.

She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Babenko (George) of Kennewick; two sons, Douglas Iverson of Warrenton, Ore. and Alan Gerard of Richland; four grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Minkler of Wenatchee and Nina Barkalow of Corpus Christi, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard "Bus" Iverson; three brothers, Robert Gerard, Harold Gerard and Vernon Gerard; and two sisters, Lila Schmitt and Irene Johnson.

Viewing and visitation will be held today, November 24, 2008, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview.
