Soapbox derby racer enjoys event

Outlook Elementary School fourth grade grader Casey Torres (front), son of Maria Ochoa and Jose Torres, is the 6,000th student to enroll in the Sunnyside School District. He enrolled in the school earlier this week after transferring from the Wapato School District, and was yesterday presented a t-shirt, a book, a certificate and other gifts in honor of the historic occasion. This was the first time enrollment has reached 6,000. Attending the presentation were (back L-R) Superintendent Rick Cole, Principal Robert Bowman, Librarian Heidi Roedel, Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Pam Turner and fourth grade teacher Saul Marquez.

Thank you for the Sunshine Days soapbox derby picture in your paper on Sept. 22.

I would also like to thank the people of Sunnyside for the good time we had.

We had a good time and will be back next year...only FASTER!
