Bernadine E. Hall, 97 of Prosser passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at her home.
Bernadine was born Sept. 26, 1911 in Outlook to Joseph and Maria Buetel, who were pioneer homesteaders in the Yakima Valley. She attended Liberty Grade School and graduated from Granger High School in 1930.
On June 28, 1935 Bernadine married Luther Hall of Zillah. They spent the next eight years living, working, and starting a family in various towns in Washington. In 1943 they settled for good on the small farm in Zillah that we all knew as home.
Mom would sometimes work seasonally in local fruit warehouses and a time in the office of the Granger School District, but her primary job was always her family.
Bernadine is survived by a daughter; Adel (Jack) Scott of Shelton; three sons, Edward (Joanne) of Covington, Douglas (Gloria) of Grandview and Denis (Bernadette) of Palisades, Idaho; nine grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bernadine is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Hall; her father and mother, Joseph and Maria Buetel; two brothers, Jack and Fred Beutel; and a sister, Alice Buetel.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory may make a contribution in her name to Lower Valley Hospice, 3920 Outlook Road, Sunnyside, WA 98944.
At her request there will be a graveside service for family and close friends on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at 3 p.m. at Zillah Cemetery.
I would go quietly when
life is done;
No wild applause for certain,
when the sun
Will sink in sudden twilight
like a breath
Which now is sign of life
but stops in death
I would go quietly
let swinging door close gently,
softly as it has before
When dear ones left;
and I, dear heart, shall leave
My love with you;
And you must never grieve
The family of Bernadine has entrusted her funeral arrangements to Valley Hills Funeral Home.
