Ernest H. McKinnon, 82, died Monday, March 30, 2009, after a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 8, 1926, in Wallace, Idaho to Daniel and Leah McKinnon.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

On June 7, 1949 he married Myrlen Finstad in Yakima.

He was a school teacher, coach and a principal in various schools.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Myrlen; three daughters, Marjie Peterson of Bellevue, Vickie Stovall of Bothell and Bonnie McKinnon of Bellingham; two sons, Roger McKinnon of Richland and Scott McKinnon of Spokane; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Lura Jensen of Chehalis.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 1 p.m., at Snipes Mountain Restaurant, 905 Yakima Valley Highway in Sunnyside.
