OBITUARY

MYRTLE R. MAHAFFY

Myrtle R. (Foote) Mahaffy, 95, of Spokane passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, at her home.

She was born March 2, 1914 in Lead, Lawrence County, S.D. to Myrtle Mae (Williams) and Elva Dan Foote.

On Dec. 31, 1931 Myrtle married John W. Mahaffy in Rapid City, S.D. The first several years of their marriage were spent in the Dakotas near both of their families. In 1943, John and Myrtle left South Dakota with their young family for McCleary. In 1946, they settled in Granger, where they raised their family.

In 1994 Myrtle moved to Spokane, where she lived until her death.

Myrtle is survived by her children, Bill Mahaffy of Sunnyside, Dolores Townsend (Wayne) of Clever, Mo., Wilfred Mahaffy (Jean) of Cheney, Lyle Mahaffy (Evelyn) of Kirkland, Alida Thom (Herb) of Spokane and Alberta Robinson of Woodinville; her grandchildren, Dixie Armstrong, Marla Wierman, Dan Couch, Verna Fredrickson, Carolyn Morris, Laura Gordon, Lecil Townsend, Lanelle Horton, Leslie Townsend, Gerene Nelson, Wilfred Jay Mahaffy, Everett Mahaffy, Forrest Mahaffy, Perlina Fugate, Bruce Thom, Daryle Thom, Terry Thom, Lorelei Robinson, David Robinson, Carlin Robinson and Lynnette Robinson; 38 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Mahaffy in 1996; her children, Marjorie Mahaffy and Darline Couch (Vern); her brothers, Charles (Chuck), Albert, Murl (Bud) and Bernard Foote; and two sisters, Marjorie Foote and Marie Mahaffy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Thornhill Valley Chapel in Spokane, with interment following at Pines Cemetery adjacent to Thornill Valley Chapel.
