Emilia Valerio, 86, of Grandview died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at her home.

She was born April 6, 1923 in Matehuala, Mexico to Delfino and Beatriz (Bravo) Sanchez.

On June 23, 1940 she married Benito V. Valerio Sr. in Mexico. In 1957 the Valerio family moved to Grandview.

She is survived by her children, Janey Montelongo, Maria Elena V. Jasso, Vicente Valerio, Benny Valerio and Henry Valerio, all of Grandview, Pureza V. Urbina of Pasco, Betty V. Gonzales of Prosser, Josie Capetillo Yakima and Carmen Valerio of Seattle; 26 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Manuel Sanchez, Delfino Sanchez and Alfredo Sanchez, all of Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Guadalupe; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; one sister; and three brothers.

Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Grandiew, with burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
