In regards to last Friday's front page article about the Sunnyside police planning a "school safety emphasis" on Monday, April 20, I would like to make a comment about yielding to students using crosswalks. The students, or anyone else using crosswalks, need to step it up to get across and not walk at a snail's pace as if they owned the crosswalk, as though no one else is around.
Perhaps they also need to be targeted, and maybe educated to respect drivers waiting for them to cross.
I'm all for the kids' safety but let's not be too one-sided. There are two sides to this story.
