OBITUARY

LAMBERTUS WILLIAM GRIMMIUS

Lambertus (Bert) William Grimmius, 80, a long-time Outlook resident, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Sunnyside.

Bert Grimmius was born Jan. 8, 1929 at Winsum, Holland, the son of Henry and Joan (Aikema) Grimmius.

He spent his early years in Holland and completed the eight grade and agriculture school in Holland.

In 1948 he with his family came to the U.S., making their home in California and in 1953 Bert moved to the Lower Yakima Valley.

On Oct. 24, 1956 he married Annie Warmenhoven at the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church. Following their marriage, Bert owned and operated a dairy on Independence road for several years and then was a full- time milker for local dairymen until he retired in 1991.

Bert and Annie continued to make their home in the Outlook and Sunnyside area until the time of his death. Bert enjoyed fixing and playing reed pump organs.

He was a member of the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church and a member of the Reed Organ Society.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Grimmius of Sunnyside; three daughters, Jean (Lawrence) of Granger, Paula (Kevin) of Robins, Iowa and Linda (Dana) of Kingsley, Iowa; two sons, Don (Jan) of Visalia, Calif. and Larry (Julie) of Belfair; 14 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren; one sister, Marjorie Sytsma; two brothers, John (Marlys) and Tom (Vera).

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Henry Grimmius.

Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
