Support for art program lauded

We would like to thank all the kids, parents and volunteers who helped make this summer's Art in the Park such a positive success. It was gratifying to see kids and parents, older brothers and sisters, and adult volunteers working together to make our community better.

Over the course of eight weeks, more than 100 area kids participated in art projects in Central Park. We could not have made this happen without the donations and support from the following organizations: Sunnyside's Promise and Nate Bridges for securing donations for art supplies; the Port of Sunnyside for allowing us storage space; Daily Sun News for newsprint for tables; Sunnyside School District and Curtis Campbell for publicity; and Sunnyside Police Department/City of Sunnyside for logistical and clerical support.

We also had many people donate various art supplies, including the Washington State Gourd Society and Jim Martin for the wonderful assortment of gourds for kids to paint. We also had more than 10 wonderful volunteers who came and helped supervise, glue, paint and encourage creativity! We could not have pulled this off without your weekly support, thank you!
