Loretta Jean (Streelman) DeBoer, 63, of Sunnyside went to be with her Lord and King in heaven after a two-year battle with cancer on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009

Her faith in God was strong and evident in her life and she passed on those Christian values to her children.

Lorie was born March 10, 1946 in Artesia, Calif. to Garrett and Marie (Algra) Streelman, the third of four children.

Lorie attended primary school in Bellflower, Calif. and graduated from Valley Christian High School. She attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.

She married David DeBoer on August 19, 1966. They made their home in California. She had worked as a bank teller and a dental receptionist.

When she and David moved to Washington, she was the dairy bookkeeper and housewife. She later worked at a local flower shop.

Lorie's joys in life were her eight grandchildren.

She enjoyed baking, gardening, reading the Bible, quilting, volunteering at the Sunnyside Christian Thrift Store, Life Options, being a Bible study leader at coffee break and the quilters group at church.

She was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, David DeBoer; four children, David (Nicky) DeBoer of Sunnyside, Suzanne (Brian) Moore and Daniel (Michelle) DeBoer, all of Outlook and Joshua DeBoer; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Brandon and Nathan Moore, Garrett and Avery DeBoer and Isaac, Natalie and Eli DeBoer; brothers, John (Linda) Streelman of Bellflower, Calif. and Len (Nanette) Streelman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a sister, Judi (Victor) Schwedhelm of Galt, Calif.
