BICKLETON - Bickleton's Katelynn Clinton last night led the Lady Pirates varsity to a 50-44 victory over Mabton's JV team for the second time in less than a week, scoring a game-high 29 points and totaling 15 rebounds Thursday evening.
"I think she scored about 80 percent of those in the first quarter," said Bickleton Coach Emily Barnhart of the Pirates' 25-5 lead over Mabton going into the second quarter. "She plays real tall and real big...she definitely knows how to get the ball in the basket."
Barnhart said the Lady Pirates still struggled with fouls against Mabton, just as they did last weekend, although there seemed to be some improvement. By the fourth quarter, two Lady Pirates had fouled out and one, Star Kibby, was sidelined by a wrist injury. Kibby notched six points and seven steals before sitting out for the rest of game, beginning halfway through the second quarter.
Lady Pirate Morgan McBride tallied nine rebounds for Bickleton and Jamie Venema notched seven rebounds.
Complete statistics were not available as of press time.
Bickleton (3-0) next plays tonight, Friday, against Zillah's C squad, then at home against Lyle on Saturday.
