John Richard Mashburn, 62, of Grandview passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Yakima Regional Hospital of a heart attack.
He was born March 15, 1947 in The Dalles, Ore. to Charles and Lucille (Churchill) Turner.
He received his education in Grandview, graduating with the Grandview High School class of 1965. Following high school, Rick started his employment with Snokist in Grandview.
He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Following his military service Rick returned home to Grandview.
On July 24, 1971 he married Darlene Lenseigne in Pasco. They together made their home in Grandview.
He continued his employment at Snokist until he retired in 2000. He was later employed at St. Michelle Winery until 2008.
He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed golf, bowling, cooking and going to yard sales looking for antiques. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing and trips to Clear Lake. He cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Rick loved time spent on his patio with family and friends barbequing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Mashburn of Grandview; daughter, Laurel Cervantes and husband, Sergio, of Grandview and son, Scott Mashburn of Grandview; two grandchildren, Dylan Cervantes and Lauren Cervantes; his mother, Lucille Turner of Grandview, and one sister, Tracy Turner of Liberty Lake. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Turner. Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Grandview Nazarene Church.
