Dog attacks reported near Sunnyside, Grandview

Two people were attacked, one of them hospitalized, following a pair of dog attacks reported yesterday, Tuesday, to the Yakima County Sheriff's office.

The first attack was just after 1 p.m. yesterday, Tuesday, when three pitbulls were roaming in a neighboring yard in the 100 block of Summit Drive, near Grandview.

Deputies were called to the scene by the property owner when her son and a family pet were attacked by the three dogs. There were no reports of injuries in the incident.

About three hours later, deputies were called to the 1800 block of Sunnyside-Mabton Highway, where a Sunnyside-area man was injured by a dog bite and had to be treated and later released at Sunnyside Community Hospital.

Also yesterday, deputies were alerted to a semi-truck that was blocking the intersection at Waneta and Tear roads after the driver had tried to turn around and landed the trailer partially in a ditch.

There were two reports of recovered vehicles phoned into the Sheriff's office yesterday, one a stripped car found near Grandview in the 800 block of Wilson Highway with license plate number 470 YLR.

A second vehicle, a mini-van, was found last night on Maple Grove between Independence and Van Belle roads.

Also yesterday deputies were alerted to a cow that was loose in the 9000 block of Emerald Road.
