Merle Fox Weise, 88, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at her home.

She was born June 15, 1920 to Dolly and George Fox and was raised in Mabton. As an adult she moved to Seattle and married Les Weise. She followed him wherever he was stationed in the Navy. She would talk to students and family members about what she witnessed at the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

She is survived by two children, Joey Currin and Mark Weise; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Mel Fox of Mabton and Ivan Fox of Cle Elum; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Les Weise; sister, Chick Hall; and brothers, Dean Fox and Norman Fox.

A memorial will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, from 1 to 4 p.m at her home at 3833 NE 98th Street in Seattle.
