ZILLAH - Bickleton's Lady Pirates carried out a 49-31 win over Trout Lake this past Saturday night in the second round of District play-offs.
"We were never behind," said Bickleton Coach Ric Palmer.
Challenged by Trout Lake's Liz Vogt, Palmer assigned Dani Raschko to defensively hold her back on scoring, which held Vogt to only seven points for the night. Vogt then fouled out in the fourth quarter and, Palmer said, "Katelynn (Clinton) just went in there and had a hay day (in terms of scoring)."
Clinton scored 12 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter.
Bickleton's Morgan McBride scored eight points, Starr Kibby scored seven points and Dani Raschko scored five.
Bickleton knocked second seeded Trout Lake out of District play.
In Friday's night's 65-15 loss against Sunnyside Christian, Palmer said the Lady Knights held Clinton to only 11 points for the night. "They double and triple team her when she's coming through the key," he said.
Kibby and McBride scored two points apiece in Friday night's game.
Bickleton plays Klickitat tomorrow night, Tuesday, in Goldendale. If the Lady Pirates win, they have a shot at the District championship title Friday night against Sunnyside Christian High School.
