MABTON - Led by Mabton's Trishi Williams, the Lady Vikings defeated the Columbia-Burbank Coyotes this past Saturday night, 45-30.
Williams scored 20 points for the night.
Despite the win, Mabton Coach Chris McCallum said the Lady Vikes struggled offensively, shooting only 30 percent for the night.
Defensively, though, McCallum was impressed. "After a long break, they came out and played (a great defensive game)," he said, adding, "Especially Crysta Reynolds and Trishi Williams."
Reynolds finished the night with two points, but grabbed 12 rebounds.
At the beginning of the game, Columbia-Burbank garnered a 5-0 lead, but Mabton adjusted and went into the second quarter up 15-11. By the half, Mabton was up nine points, 25-16.
McCallum said free throw scoring is improving and Saturday night, Mabton finished 13-for-19.
"It's getting better," he said.
Mabton is now 7-1 on the season, and 1-0 in league play. The Lady Vikes next play at Riverside Christian this coming Tuesday.
