Despite the Sunnyside Recreation Department closing up shop because of city budget cuts, Sunnyside's long-time adult coed volleyball league is still going strong.
Pat Jaquish stepped in this past fall and made arrangements with the Sunnyside School District to use the Chief Kamiakin Elementary School gym. Under Jaquish's direction, 11 teams competed in the fall league.
Jaquish is back at the helm, now in the process of forming a winter adult coed volleyball league. He has scheduled team get-togethers for 7 p.m. on Jan. 14 and 21 at the Chief Kamiakin gymnasium. The two Wednesday night gatherings, he said, will be an opportunity for teams to sign up for league play. Team entry fees are set at $60.
League play will commence on Jan. 28. All league matches will be held on Wednesday evenings, starting at 7 p.m. The adult league is open to anyone at least 18 years of age.
Those seeking additional information about the winter adult coed volleyball league are asked to leave Jaquish a message at 837-3595.
