Antonia Amaro, 61, of Prosser died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, in Seattle.

She was born Aug. 11, 1947 in Toppenish. She worked at Grandview Middle School for 20 years as a paraprofessional (teacher's aid), her students always came first.

She is survived by her 13 sisters and brothers, Lucy Mora, Cecile Amaro, Mary Fortier, Frank Amaro Jr., Linda Amaro, George Amaro, Joe Amaro, Fernando Amaro, Vicky Amaro, Sally Chavez, Manuel Martinez, David Amaro Sr. and Daniel Amaro Sr.; and 43 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Antonia Amaro; and father, Francisco Amaro Sr.

Recitation of the rosary will be held today, Jan. 8, 2009, at 7 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger, with burial to follow in the Zillah Cemetery.
