Port commissioners gearing up for trade shows

Sunnyside Port commissioners are gearing up for the trade show season, which begins in February and runs through October.

Port commissioners are partnered with a trade show group comprised of members from across the state and will select three trade shows to attend out of a group of five.

Among their options are manufacturing, plastics, packaging and woodworking shows. Commissioners are hoping to entice industries to locate here.

"By doing it as part of a group, the cost savings are tremendous," said Amber Hansen, port director. "We all share in the cost of registration fees for having a booth set up. The cost sharing of those shows is just tremendous for us."

Last year, Hansen traveled to California and utilized an opportunity to make "one-on-one" calls with several companies. She had traveled with a CTED team and will likely get to do so again this year.
