Yakima Democrats to host inauguration breakfast

YAKIMA - Yakima Democrats and guests will gather in the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in downtown Yakima Tuesday, Jan. 20, for a breakfast celebrating the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

The breakfast buffet will open at 7:30 a.m. to be followed at 9 a.m. by the swearing-in of the nation's 44th president and the inaugural address.

The proceedings from Washington D.C. will be shown live on big screen TV and will include the traditional parade down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Yakima County Democratic Party Chair Mary Stephenson emphasized that the breakfast is planned as a social event open to the public - and not a political fundraiser.

"The whole idea is to bring together people who want to celebrate this historical occasion. The only speech we'll hear will be from President Obama."

In addition to breakfast, low cost inauguration souvenirs and door prizes will be available to attendees.

For information and to RSVP, calls may be made to Deb at 966-2274, Carrie at 452-5133 or Carmen at 966-9316.
