Grandview man sentenced to 11 years in prison

YAKIMA - A 28-year-old Grandview man was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison following guilty pleas he entered on June 5 in Yakima County Superior Court, stemming from several charges in March of this year.

Randy Moreno was arrested in Sunnyside March 11 after a Sunnyside police officer made a social contact with occupants of a vehicle Moreno was in. After receiving consent to search the vehicle the officer found marijuana, a glass pipe and methamphetamine in the back seat of the vehicle where Moreno was seated.

Once Moreno was taken into custody and searched police said they found numerous pieces of financial information, including a bank card, checks and a money order not belonging to him. Small plastic bags used to package controlled substances were also found.

Moreno pled guilty to six counts of second degree identity theft, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of another's identification, possession of a controlled substance (marijuana less than 40 grams) and use of drug paraphernalia.

Moreno was sentenced to 137 months in prison.
