Convenience store robbery results in seven arrests

Seven juveniles and one adult were arrested early this morning, Friday, after when police say two of the juveniles robbed a convenience store in Sunnyside

Police say they received a call just before 2 a.m. this morning stating two juvenile males had just stolen beer from the Valley View Market in the 100 block of West Lincoln Avenue.

On the way out of the store with two cases of beer, the 17-year-old and 16-year-old juveniles got into an altercation with the store clerk. Police say this altercation bumped up the juveniles' crime to second degree robbery.

Police were able to identify one of the suspects from the store's security surveillance cameras and went to his house. There, police were told by the juvenile's mother that he is a reported runaway and she didn't know where he was at.

At about this time police received a call about a large fight in the 1200 block of South Sixth Street. Officers found several juveniles who had been drinking but others had run into a house. When officers were refused entry to the house a search warrant was issued.

Police entered the house and found the two juveniles suspected in the Valley View Market robbery. Police arrested the two and requested charges of robbery in the second degree and minor in possession/or consumption of alcohol. Five other juveniles were charged with minor in possession/or consumption of alcohol and a female adult in the home was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
