City to flush water lines

The city of Sunnyside will begin flushing its water system through fire hydrants on Monday, June 8, and work is expected to be complete by Thursday, June 11.

This is the annual water system flushing and spring water well start-up to flush out iron and manganese deposits, which cause city water to look rusty.

According to city officials, this may cause some turbidity and water may appear discolored, but there should not be any health concerns.

Residents are encouraged to flush household plumbing for several minutes each morning to eliminate any deposits.
