Geraldine Ruth Croskey, 88, of Outlook passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in Sunnyside.

She was born Oct. 25, 1920 in West Side, Iowa to Lafayette George and Esther Leona (Firth) Evers.

Ruth received her education at West Side High School and graduated with the class of 1938. She later attended Park College, Parkville, Mo.

On Oct. 26, 1943 she married Robert O. Croskey in Carroll, Iowa. Following their marriage Robert continued his service in the U.S. Navy and Ruth along with her parents came west to relocate in Portland, Ore. Following his military duty in 1945, Robert returned to Portland.

In 1954 Ruth and Robert moved to an 80-acre farm in Clark County, where they resided for 46 years.

In 1999, due to Ruth's failing health, they moved to Outlook to be close to their daughter.

She was a long-time member of the Elim Lutheran Church in Hockinson.

Ruth cherished time with her family and treasured being a wife, mother and grandmother.

She enjoyed flowers, reading, music, playing the piano and a home cooked meal.

She is survived by her husband, Robert O. Croskey of Outlook; two sons, Robert M. Croskey of Allentown, Pa. and John Croskey (Judy) of Albion; two daughters, Melissa Walsh (Pat) of Outlook and Betsy Anderson (Michael) of Redwood City, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Jack Evers.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2009, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside with graveside services to follow at 11 a.m. at Zillah cemetery.
