Premier soccer tryouts scheduled

YAKIMA - Lower Valley youngsters interested in playing for a premier soccer club are being encouraged to attend one of several tryouts.

The Sun City Strikers, recognized as one of 20 of the top soccer clubs in Washington state, will hold tryouts at the Perry Tech fields across from the Yakima Airport. All participants are asked to wear proper soccer attire and bring their own ball and water bottle.

The tryouts for the U16 through U18 boys teams will be held this coming weekend, March 7-8, from 3 to 5 p.m. each of the two days.

Girls U16 through U18 tryouts will be held the weekend of May 9-10. Tryouts for the boys and girls U11 through U15 squads will be held the weekend of May 30-31. Meeting times haven't yet been scheduled for either of the two weekend tryouts in May, but further information will be available on the website:, or by calling (509) 452-1392.

Players who attend the tryouts are asked to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out registration information. A $15 tryout fee must also be paid at that time. Youngsters must have their parents or a guardian with them to sign the paperwork.
