Robert Eugene Leidig, 84, a longtime Grandview resident, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Prosser Memorial Long-Term Care facility.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1924 in Peoria, Ill. to Henry G. and Hattie May (Springer/Davis) Leidig. He received his education in Keene, Texas.

He was a painter and carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Paula Wipf (Jake) of Gillett, Wyo., Connie Lynn Gonzalez of Dallas, Texas and Cathy Leidig of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Robert Leidig Jr. (Caprice) of Las Vegas, Nev. and Rodney Leidig of California; 12 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Quishenberry of Pendleton, Ore. and Helen Barbee of Toppenish; and two brothers, Harold Leidig of Junction City, Ore. and James Leidig of Grandview. Robert is also survived by companion, Emron Fenley of Grandview.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Max Leidig.

At Robert's request there will be no formal funeral service. Private family inurnment will be held at the Grandview Cemetery.
