Businesses invited to assist with job fair for youth
Thursday, April 9, a job fair hosted by Sunnyside Transformation Yakima Valley will be held at Sunnyside High School.
The job fair is geared toward providing youth with experience applying for a job, interviewing for employment and working on skills for the job market.
Roberto Matus, Executive Director for Sunnyside Transformation Yakima Valley, last month said the job fair is a joint venture between his organization and Sunnyside's Promise. He said the two groups felt the job fair was a way in which to provide opportunities for the community's youth.
Matus invites any business, organization or individual willing to assist with the job fair to do so.
Those willing to help can do so by hosting a booth, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, donating food and beverages, donating door prizes or serving as a guest speaker. Businesses or organizations can also assist by providing a four-week job opportunity or contributing funds to support a job opportunity.
The booths are free and the contribution needed for job opportunities is $685. Matus said this is a great opportunity for the community to invest in itself and its youth.
The April 9 job fair takes place from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Those wishing to support the job fair in any way or to volunteer can call Herman te Velde at 830-4376 or Holly Ohler at 836-5828.
