Murder suspect arrested near White Salmon

Yesterday (Tuesday) the Yakima County Sheriff's Office arrested Jose Luis Rodriguez-Guzman in a remote area near White Salmon on a warrant issued March 10 that charges him with the murder of Saul Carvajal Duarte.

Duarte was discovered shot and burned in a vineyard off Arrowsmith Road near Sunnyside Feb. 12. His body was identified later that month.

Authorities focused their investigation on Rodriguez-Guzman after the warrant had been issued, and after investigating his whereabouts were able to discover the name of his employer.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. last night, he was arrested and Duarte's vehicle was recovered near the arrest.

Assisting the Yakima County Sheriff's Office in the arrest were the Yakima County Violent Crime Task Force, Washington State Department of Corrections, the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshal's Service.
