A combination of big ticket commercial construction projects and new home starts helped spike the total valuation for new building starts in Sunnyside to over $1 million for the month of February.
All told, newly permitted building projects in February have a total combined value of $1,189,427. A total of $15,119 was paid out in permit fees for the projects.
Kinter Electric received the thumbs up for permits last month to construct a 12,000 square-foot commercial building at 2761 E. Edison Ave. Sunnyside city coffers received $4,453 in permit fees for the project
Close behind was a new commercial shop for LTI, Inc. that Sunnyside city officials gave the go-ahead for at 333 Midvale Rd. The 10,000 square foot commercial shop project is valued at $393,171. It generated $4,360 in permit fees for the city of Sunnyside.
Also last month, the city signed off on a $142,278 project for a house at 1509 Gregory Ave. that is being reconstructed following a fire.
Two other projects in Sunnyside topped the $100,000 mark in valuation during the month of February. Both are new homes that are part of the Cottages at Quail Cove development on Cabot Lane. Both houses are valued at $111,136 each, with each generating $1,736 in permit fees.
Three projects for new windows were permitted last month, accounting for a total valuation of $7,301.
Also during February, city officials responded to code enforcement issues at six locations.
Sunnyside building officials issued a total of 28 permits last month, 17 of them related to building.
Five new business licenses were issued in February.
