PROSSER - A kick-off celebration for the Lower Valley Community Concert Association's annual membership drive is slated for this coming Saturday, March 21, at 1 p.m. at the Princess Theater.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Prosser's Adrienne Bousquet.
"She's incredible," said Liz Donaldson of the community concert association. "She's still in school, but if you close your eyes you imagine this sultry woman singing these songs. Last year, she sang Peggy Lee's 'Fever,' which is a very sexy song, and she had to get permission from her mom to (do) it."
The Lower Valley Community Concert Association has been in existence for 62 years and features a series of several concerts spread out over the course of a year. The membership drive is conducted to help make the next season's concerts happen.
Donaldson said those who purchase season tickets for the 2009-10 series will get an extra perk thrown in-they'll get to see the final concert in the current season, which is set for Sunday, April 26, and will feature pianist, comedian and songwriter Dale Gonyea.
All concerts are held at the Sunnyside High School auditorium, with the exception of this coming Saturday's kick-off celebration. By holding it in Prosser, Donaldson said, "We're just trying to spark people's interest. We're trying to get people involved. We see our numbers shrinking and we're going to have to go away if our numbers don't go up."
Season tickets cost $50 for adults, $15 for students and $105 for a family of four.
"It's a real bargain," said Donaldson. "These are world class acts."
