Ruby C. Streber, 84, of Grandview died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at home.

She was born April 24, 1924 in New Norway, Alberta, Canada to Hans and Malena Undheim-Herigstad Aarestad. She received her education at Semiahmoo High School in White Rock, British Columbia, Canada.

On Aug. 4, 1943 she married James D. Streber in Seattle.

She had worked as an admitting clerk, was a restaurant owner, and a bookkeeper for a construction company in Grandview.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Streber of Grandview; two daughters, Judy Cervantes of Mabton, and Carmen Streber of Grandview; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Aarestad of Moses Lake; and one brother, Ken Aarestad of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ruby Michelle; three sisters; and four brothers.

Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
