OBITUARY

JOHN ALAN NEWHOUSE

John Alan Newhouse, 50, caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2009 in Seattle, due to injuries sustained in a farming accident.

John was born April 4, 1959 in Sunnyside, the son of Alfred and Pauline (Schilperoort) Newhouse.

John received his education in Sunnyside graduating with the Sunnyside High School class of 1977. Following graduation John worked on the family farm and for other local farmers.

He later attended and graduated from the police academy. He served nine years with Sunnyside and Prosser Police departments.

In 1993 John returned to work with his family at Upland Vineyards, LLC.

John was very devoted to his family, and his children were his life each in their own special way.

He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cherri Newhouse of Outlook; his children, Jordan, Jacqui, Emma, Kelly, Johnny and Kate Newhouse; one grandson, Dallas; his parents, Alfred and Pauline Newhouse; one brother, Steve Newhouse; five sisters, Marcia Martin, Marla Newhouse, Melody Hazzard, Mary Jo Newhouse and Mardell Kroes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, May 8, 2009, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Memorial funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church in Sunnyside.
