I want to do something for my community is a comment we have all heard, said, or thought of sometime in our lives. The opportunity is now!
There is currently a need for volunteers (unpaid
people) to serve on Planning Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, Housing Authority
Commission, Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, and Sunnyside Council Salary Commission.
The education that each of these provide in dealing with working together to make decisions, researching the material given to help with the process of what needs face our community, and the related expenses is priceless in knowing more about what government costs are for our community.
How important is it to know that you're a part of this community? How do you teach our youth
that respecting the property of others because our community costs each of us to maintain, the importance of helping keep our parks, streets, and city beautiful, safe, & clean is a sign
of respect for ourselves, our families, our neighbors, and everyone who visits our town.
Most often these meetings are once a month for possibly 1-1/2 hrs., and would require the ability to read. The biggest lesson learned is how to make a commitment to your community
to make it better because you live here.
Applications can be picked up at City Hall or printed off the City's website at: www.ci.sunnyside.wa.us
Now is the perfect time to do something that will be of value to you and your community for years to come.
