George Arturo Martinez, 39, of Kennewick passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009.
He was born Dec. 15, 1969 in Tijuana, Mexico to Bart and Celestina (Aguillion) Martinez.
He received his education in California.
In 1997 he moved to Toppenish for a few years, where he worked for Washington Beef. He later relocated to Kennewick, where he worked in construction.
George enjoyed weight lifting, football, basketball and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.
He cherished time spent with his friends and family.
He will be remembered as a kind hearted man with a warm smile who enjoyed helping others.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Arturo Martinez and companion, Rosie DeLeon, both of Kennewick; his mother, Celestina (Aguillion) Martinez of Grandview; three sisters, Dorothy Martinez (Sergio Buenrostro) and April Amezola (Ilian Arregui), all of Grandview and Anna Amezola of California; one brother, Joe Martinez; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ray Weathers.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bart Martinez; and the mother of his son, Lisa Gilsdorf.
Viewing and visitation will be held today, May 18, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Grandview. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview.
