He is described as wholeheartedly honest. She is described as having a dedication at commitment to Sunnyside schools that surpasses none.
That's the cusp of nominating statements for the two latest inductees into the Sunnyside High School Wall of Fame, Sen. Jim Honeyford and longtime Sunnyside School Board Director Joanne Kilian.
Adding new inductees to the wall has been on hiatus since the 1990s, but was revived earlier this school year by a partnership between the school district and the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce.
Last night's induction dinner at Bon Vino's was just a step in bringing the program back to life.
"We've had a great time looking at past inductees and studying nominations for this year," said Supt. Rick Cole.
"There are a lot of successful Sunnyside High School graduates that are out and about in our country and our world featured on the Wall of Fame."
Honeyford, a 1957 grad, was nominated by his wife, Jerri.
"He's a no-frills, practical kind of guy who sees what needs to be done and doesn't rest until it's accomplished," she wrote.
Kilian, who graduated in 1953, was nominated by John and Jean Kilian. They note she's never been deterred by hard work in life.
"She has made serving the community of Sunnyside her life work and has unselfishly given her time to make Sunnyside a better place to live and attend school.
