Alice Lavaun Becker, 79, a long-time Sunnyside resident, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009.

Alice was born Dec. 9, 1929 in Denton, Texas to Richard and May Cockburn. The family moved to Sunnyside in 1938, where she had resided for the past 71 years.

She enjoyed fishing, reading, watching the Mariners and going to all of her great-grandchildren's sporting events. She was known by all of the teams as Grandma Alice.

She was well known by many friends and neighbors and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Alice Becker is survived by her son, Richard Kent Becker of Sunnyside; a daughter, Barbara Fanning of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Kristi Hogaboam (Kris) of Prosser, Shellie Morgan (Bob) of Richland and Tyson Culver of Austin, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Blake and Whitney Milne, Dalton and Brandon Morgan and Gavin Culver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rinehold Becker; her parents; and siblings.

Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
