Norman Theodore King, 94, of Yakima passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in Yakima.

He was born Dec. 15, 1914 in Mabton to Arthur Samuel and Lois Estella (Hall) King.

He received his education in Mabton and graduated with the Mabton High School class of 1933.

On June 12, 1942 he married Blanche Fisher.

He worked from 1936 until 1938 for the U.S. Postal Service in Ritzville. From 1938 until 1979 he farmed in the Mabton area.

Norman served on the Glade School Board, Yakima County ASCA, Masonic Lodge, Elks, Mabton Methodist Church and Bethany Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche King; two sons, Norman King (Marylee) of West Linn, Ore. and Gordon King (Connie) of Mabton; five grandchildren, Michelle King Oswalt (Craig) of Granger, Tracy King and Jennifer King Lovelady (Mark), all of Tacoma, Arthur King (Kathy) of Seattle and BethAnne King Sjolund (Dan) of Spokane; 10 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Lyndsay, Jordan, Eizaya, Alexis, Luke, Landyn, Ashton, Oliver and Evan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lois King; three brothers, George, Arthur and Andrew; three sisters, Ruth, Zelda and Lois.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Noon at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grandview.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory may contribute to Bethany Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association.
