Burn ban declared

The Yakima Regional Clean Air Authority declared a stage one burn ban today, Monday, that is expected to last through Thursday.

Unless a fireplace or uncertified wood stove or insert is a home's only source of heat, those items are banned. All outdoor burning is prohibited as well.

The use of certified wood stoves and fireplace inserts is allowed, but the Yakima Regional Clean Air Authority is asking that people refrain from unnecessary wood burning until weather conditions improve.
