Our loving father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Eduardo (Ed) M. Rodriguez, 82, of Sunnyside died on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Hillcrest Manor in Sunnyside.

Ed was born Nov. 12, 1926 in Premont, Texas the son of Rosendo Rodriguez and Victoriana Muniz Rodriguez.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He married Estella Pena on April 13, 1938 in Concepcion, Texas. Together they moved to Sunnyside in 1962 and raised their family there.

Ed worked as a farm laborer here in Sunnyside.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside.

He enjoyed being around his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He was their number one fan. He also enjoyed walking, gardening and reading the Bible.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary E. Gomez (Fred) of Sunnyside; three sons, John E. Rodriguez, Ross E. Rodriguez (Heather) of Grandview and Wally E. Rodriguez of Spokane; 15 grandchildren, Cyndi Maldonado (Rick), Ande Gomez, Yesenia Godinez and Marissa Gomez all of Sunnyside, Greg Gonzalez, Megan and Ryan Rodriguez of Grandview, Austin and Jarrin Rodriguez of Yakima, Christian Rodriguez of Utah, Jordan, Kameran and Logan all of Grandview, Gabriel and Garrett Rodriguez of Spokane and Gracie; five great-grandchildren, Emilee, Ashlee, Brent, Baylee and Treigh Maldonado all of Sunnyside; one special niece, Gloria R. Mota and family of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter-in-law, Cindy Rodriguez; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Estella P. Rodriguez in 2005; one daughter, Mary E. (Lisa) Rodriguez in 1984; his parents, Rosendo and Victoriana Rodriguez; two brothers; and six sisters.

We love you dad and we will miss you. Viewing will be held today, Oct. 6, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial and military honors to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
