YAKIMA - Bickleton's varsity volleyball team traveled to Yakima and won the match against their host, the Riverside Christian JV, 25-14, 25-12, 25-15 yesterday.
The win improved the Lady Pirates' overall season record to 10-7, counting both regulation and non-regulation length matches.
"My girls played their best match last night," said Bickleton Coach Kim Clinton, stating the Lady Pirates were consistent in every area of play.
Morgan McBride and Dede Kibby of Bickleton teamed up for setting "...with great communication between them," according to the coach.
Teamwork, too, was credited for the Lady Pirates improving on their passing.
Katelynn Clinton, said the coach, was back jump serving and her power serves helped Bickleton score, and several kills were made with the efforts of Lady Pirates Jamie Venema, Aymie Osborne and Johanna Jensen.
"(Katelynn) also had some great net play, blocking and killing the ball when the ball came right over the net," said Coach Clinton.
Osborne, she said, didn't miss any of her serves in going 16-for-16 at the service line, which helped in a seven-point scoring run.
Venema, said Clinton, put 20 serves in play with only two service errors.
"My whole team put together a great volleyball match...after struggling the last few games, it was sure nice to see my team back on the floor," she commented.
Bickleton returns to their home court tomorrow (Thursday) when they host Klickitat.
