GRANDVIEW - Grandview's Monday night city council meeting was brief, but council members voted unanimously to pay for an easement.
The city of Grandview wants to tear down a dilapidated building owned by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6929. The structure is located on VFW property stretching between the city's public parking lot and Division Street, and the city has determined it impedes truck traffic to businesses.
To alleviate the problem, the city council Monday voted to pay $2,000 to the owners of the structure for the purpose of providing a perpetual easement and to tear down the building.
The VFW, said City Administrator Scott Staples, agrees to this.
Truck traffic will more easily be able to use the alleyway where the structure is located, and access the businesses located in the area will be better.
